Invitation-only membership recognizes the executive managing director for judgment and integrity in real estate counseling. King becomes the third Counselor of Real Estate on the RealAdvice team.
TAMPA, FL (August 25, 2026) — RealAdvice, a commercial real estate tax and transaction advisory services company, announced that Executive Managing Director Stephen King, MAI, CRE®, MRICS, has been awarded the CRE® (Counselor of Real Estate) designation by The Counselors of Real Estate®, a global organization of commercial property advisors.
The credential is held by only 1,000 real estate professionals worldwide. Membership is extremely selective and extended by invitation only, and recognizes practitioners whose peers, clients and employers hold them in high regard for professional achievement, sound judgment and integrity in real estate counseling. King joins the organization’s summer 2026 class of new members.
King spent more than 10 years as a special magistrate for the Value Adjustment Board in Orange County, Florida, where he conducted hundreds of quasi-judicial hearings on commercial property tax assessments. He later spent four years with a national tax services firm, where he managed commercial property analysis. He is a state-certified general real estate appraiser in multiple states and a licensed real estate salesperson in Florida.
“Stephen is one of the most diligent and insightful valuers I have worked with in over 40 years,” said Todd Jones, CEO of RealAdvice. “The designation confirms what our team and our clients already know. His advice is sound and reliable.”
King is the third member of the RealAdvice leadership team to hold the CRE® designation, after Jones and Senior Managing Director Bradley Tennant. The firm builds its work around the licensed intersection of appraisal, law and accounting, and its bench of credentialed advisers is central to how clients defend a valuation.
“It is an honor to join The Counselors,” King said. “What has always set the RealAdvice apart to me is its insistence that advice be objective, even when a client would rather hear something else. I have built my career on the same commitment to integrity, and I am glad to be among people who require it.”
RealAdvice helps commercial property buyers and sellers pay taxes only on what they legally owe. Its ProperTax™ Appraisal separates the taxable real property in a transaction, the bricks, sticks and dirt, from intangible assets that are non-taxable in most states. Every report uses the firm’s PairedExpert™ approach, an appraisal signed by both an MAI-designated real estate appraiser and a CPA business valuation specialist, so the property and transfer tax figures reconcile to a single defensible number. The strategy applies to state and local tax only and is separate from cost segregation, which is a federal income tax strategy.
